I love the old Charles Wesley hymn and its wonderful lyrics

And can it be that I should gain
An int’rest in the Savior’s blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain?
For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

We sometimes struggle with the fact that a omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient God who created all things can be interested in us individually.

What we fail to understand is that, as believers, we were part of His plan from before the world began – through birth, life and death and He is constantly part of our earthly existence until He takes us home.

If you are saved it is not an accident!

Before the world began.

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.” – 2 Timothy 1:9 (KJV).

“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;” – Titus 1:2 (KJV).

In the womb.

Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?” – Job 31:15 (KJV).

In every detail.

“But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” – Matthew 10:30 (KJV).

In every thought and imagination.

1 Chronicles 28:9 tells us, “And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.” (KJV).

With us continually and without fail.

“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” – Matthew 28:20 (KJV).

We are indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” – John 14:26 (KJV).

Forever secure, in that He will never forsake us.

2 Corinthians 5:8 says, We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (KJV).

This intensely personal relationship amazingly is available to all who will simply believe.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.:” – Romans 5:8 (KJV).

We were created to be one with Him, created in His likeness and to walk in the footsteps of His earthly Son, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 (KJV).

What comfort indeed!
